Saturday, January 24, 2009 was a very sad day in the Cranford family. Doug's father died have a short battle with lung and pancreatic cancer. He was a Wonderful man, full of life and laughter. He was a person you would Always want to be around and talk to. Work was his life, but family was his love. After two tours in Vietname he came home and started a family. He had his share of hardship, battling alcoholism, but of course he is a Cranford and he WON. He was more than 25 years sober and a fact that I am extremely proud of for him. He was extremely smart. This man could design a house or building on paper and then build it from the ground up. When his health failed him he around 2000 had to quit this love of building. He started driving a truck across the country and loved it. Every Sunday he would call just to talk. It was the one phone call I expected and looked forward to every single Sunday. I loved him more than my own father and know that he will never know how important he was to me.
Spend time with those you love, the sick, the elderly, your children.....because you never know when you are going to lose them.
